SURREY COUNTY COUNCIL WANTS YOUR COMMENTS ON THEIR PROPOSED WASTE POLICY
They are proposing to close the Cranleigh Recycling Plant
– Do you want to drive to Witley with YOUR Rubbish ?
The Council has already carried out one Consultation on their Recycling Centres Plan (Rubbish Tips) and in all 3 Alternatives they proposed to close the Cranleigh Centre.
That Consultation finished on January 4, 2019. However they held a Cabinet Meeting on December 18, 2018 to finalise their proposed Waste Plans,
so they obviously did not take into account some of your comments on closing our tip.
It is important that you now send your comments on the proposed Surrey Waste Plans.
So please look at their Plan on : www.surreycc.gov.uk/newwasteplan
The deadline for sending your comments is February 24, 2019.
Please send your comments by email to : wasteplan@surreycc.gov.uk
or by post to : Waste Planning Policy, Room 385, County Hall, Kingston. KT1 2DW.
PLEASE make your points on how our Waste Policy should be protected, in this time of massive Council cuts.
What an irresponsible proposal by the council, to close the recycling depot in Cranleigh. This depot has been used by so many people locally over the years, who will dump their rubbish anywhere they can, if the facility is closed. We have more and more people living in our area now, and they will all need somewhere for their unwanted items. As we pay for this recycling unit through our council taxes, if the council makes the disastrous decision to close it, our taxes should be reduced accordingly.
With at least 1700 new houses here and a vast estate at Dunsfold the idea of closing the Cranleigh site is totally ridiculous. I know the Council is strapped for cash but this is not the way to save money – a totally short sighted proposal
We are being completely over-run in Cranleigh with new housing to close this recycling unit would be madness. We are already experiencing fly-tipping in our beautiful area because the days the unit is open has been drastically cut and people cannot be bothered to wait until the weekend to recycle their rubbish. Surely by closing the unit more fly-tipping will take place causing the Council more money prosecuting offenders and having to clear up the area. Please please rethink the idea of closing this very valuable resource.
I am puzzled that, at a time when Waverley has put in place a plan to increase the population of Cranleigh very substantially, there also plans to close the Cranleigh recycling facility.
One perhaps had expected that the facility would be improved and enlarged … but to be closed sounds, at the very least, like poor communication between departments …. and at worst total disregard for the environment. There will be a small part of the population who will just dump stuff wherever they can .. but that small percentage can wreak havoc in peoples drives , roadsides, easily accessed woodland , car parks etc etc. In addition it is just adding extra traffic and increasing that already present feeling that Cranleigh is not respectedin the way other communities are.
