Good News – Our project to save Heritage Cottage hospital progress

Cranleigh Civic Society is delighted to announce that the Architectural Heritage Fund (AHF) has approved our request for a grant to cover building surveys and legal fees for the Cranleigh Heritage Cottage Hospital project.

The grant will cover the costs to take this project to the next stage where building works will be undertaken under the auspices of the (yet to be registered) Cranleigh Heritage Trust (Charitable Incorporated Organisation – C.I.O.).

We are very grateful to the AHF for providing this grant, without which we would have struggled to get the project advanced.

Also a BIG Thankyou to you all and to your friends for completing and returning our opinion surveys. The grant makers need evidence that the public support and will benefit from the project!

More information will be provided at our upcoming AGM at Cranleigh Bandroom at 19.00 on Wednesday 1st December.

As it is recognised as the first cottage hospital of its type in England, which led to the creation of hundreds more, and the ethos of the NHS, we are feeling proud and hopeful!

This can put a spring in our steps as we try to reimagine what our High Street is for.  Have you noticed just how quiet it is these days?  We hope you all support our local shops as much as you can, and enjoy meeting up  socially too!

We wish you all well and hope the bugs aren’t curtailing your activities too much!  Best regards from your team

Trevor, Sue, Diane, Howard, Chris, Bob, Coral, James, Lorraine.
