Hello, Cranleigh Society will have a stall at the monthly Artisan market
Saturday 4th March – this weekend.
Please support the stallholders who bring our High Street alive – it is run by Cranleigh Chamber of Commerce and Surrey Hills Enterprises.
It is going to be cold, cloudy but dry!
We will have a few things to sell. Please come along and chat. We have plenty of information about Cranleigh and all its worries.
Cranleigh Village Hospital is an open day hospital open 9-5 Monday to Friday
Cranleigh Hospital League of Friends is a Charity
they raise money from Cranleigh people and donate it to the NHS for special equipment such as Xray machine, ultrasound machine and hopefully a machine to attract an eye specialist soon.
The original Cranleigh Cottage Hospital – now named Napper Cottage by the working team to save it
This is the beautiful Grade II listed cottage at the front of Cranleigh Village Hospital, beside the Three Horseshoes pub
Cranleigh Society and others are trying to get it repaired and opened to the public. They have had to start a new charity to do so – it’s called Cranleigh Heritage Trust.
The project to save Cranleigh village hospital’s empty Heritage Cottage is gathering momentum – the team are working very hard to fulfil a Lottery Grant application. The cottage was built in the 15th Century, nearly 600 years ago! and became the first Cottage hospital of its type in England in 1859, and only closed for medical related uses in 2010. Older people in Cranleigh and villages have plenty of memories of going to the hospital – but probably never went into the very old cottage!
To make it easy to understand that Cranleigh Heritage Trust is not involved with the working hospital, the league of friends, or Cranleigh Village Health Trust – we call the cottage Napper Cottage after Dr Albert Napper who was the first Doctor to rent it.
We hope to see you on Saturday
best regards
The Team
