A Golden Day – Cranleigh Lions Fair and Carnival Parade – a great success!

Thank you to the wonderful teams of Cranleigh Lions and all their helpers too – what a great day!

Thank you to all the stall holders and helpers who worked so hard to make this a great event.

There were more stalls than ever showcasing causes, charities, council, Medical Practice, Cranleigh Heritage Trust, Catalyst Support, Cranleigh Civic Society, Cranleigh History Society and so many more.  There was plenty of food and drink too.

Thank you too to all the public from Cranleigh and from far and wide.

The atmosphere was fantastic, so many smiles and plenty of fun, kindness and generosity.  People showed real interest in the stalls and their causes – really super.

Carnival parade and prizes

The Mayor of Waverley – Councillor John Ward of Farnham – and the Chair of Cranleigh Chamber of Commerce – Rosemary French OBE – joined Lion President Trevor Dale and his wife Sue to enjoy and judge the 11 entries into the Parade. The 3 cash prizes were awarded and presented in the arena although all of the entries were truly well done.  In first place was Parkmead school – celebrating everything the Lions do for the community, second Guides & Brownies celebrating gold medal winners at the Olympics, third Scouters Beavers and Squirrels showcasing bees and honey. The theme throughout being 50 years of Cranleigh Lions – a truly golden celebration!

This event takes place on the last Saturday of June every year, to showcase causes and services, and provide fun for all.  Yes it raises money for the Lions to help others too but that is a bonus.  The enjoyment and information sharing are the main reasons for the event.

Cranleigh Lions use all profits to help those in need in and around Cranleigh including specific items at schools and nurseries.  All their events are profitable and only essential outgoings are paid for.  Like all towns and villages there is a large variety of people and families, some with enough of everything but also many who truly need the of help from the money raised by the Lions.
