changes to Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty – now National Landscapes

AONB news

Hello  Cranleigh Civic Societies members and newsletter subscribers.

We have seen some work being done concerning areas of outstanding natural beauty – AONB – and think you would like to have a look –

Firstly the name has been changed to National Landscape!  Secondly our nearest area is also called Surrey Hills.

When we vote for our councillors and politicians little do we know – or they – what they will be asked to examine, learn about and vote on:

Cllr Liz Townsend says ‘Individual town and parish councils worked extremely hard to put forward what were considered potential qualifying areas of countryside for inclusion in this National Landscape/AONB designation. Waverley Borough Council also supported the work undertaken by the councils.’

If you want to submit comments on the current consultation you can do that here

hoping to be included –
➡️The Binscombe Hills, Farley Hill and Wey Valley.
➡️Cranleigh Waters – this areas will join up the western and eastern end of the Surrey Hills AONB and encompassing the entirety of Chilworth, Wonersh and Shamley Green.
➡️Enton Hills.
➡️Dunsfold Low Weald –  Dunsfold village now included.

Natural England will oversee the changes
