Elmbridge Road, Cranleigh, Speed bumps?
There is a consultation going on at the moment regarding a traffic calming scheme along the Elmbridge Road in Cranleigh.
We need people to take part and comments are welcome if you have any.
Those of us who live along or close to the Elmbridge Road are keen for this scheme or something very similar to go ahead. The speed that traffic travels along the road is frightening. At our local Community Speed Watch we consistently catch people travelling way above the speed limit in our hour’s time slot. 30 vehicles or more and 50 to 60 mph is not uncommon.
We have a lot of elderly people living along the road and it’s getting to the point where they are fearful of crossing it.
In the consultation, some have mentioned the increase in road noise with speed bumps and tables but should we be more worried about someone getting killed along here?
We desperately need something to slow the traffic down.
Surrey Highways specialists have been out to assess the road. Pelican or pedestrian crossing is not suitable as there is nowhere safe to put it. They have come up with a speed bump and table scheme which can be viewed on the link below.
Would really appreciate people taking a look and taking part in the consultation. Very happy for people to comment with safety concerns as we all want the best solution to the issue we have here. Please click here to complete the survey
