Cranleigh Primary School has long needed to be redeveloped and enlarged. Surrey County Council have been in consultation with Glebelands School for decades about the best use of its Sports Fields. There is one field which is rarely used by any of the schools, especially in the winter months as it is too wet for sports. This field is nearby to the Sports & Social Club -click here –
If you wish to walk to this site there is also a footpath from the common – more or less opposite the Curry Inn restaurant.
Surrey County Council claim they don’t have the funds to rebuild the schools on the present site(s) and that they wish to allow the building of housing on both current school sites. This in turn provides the council with some funds towards the new building.
Waverley Borough Council turned the planning application down when it was first considered. Since then Surrey County Council have commissioned several further ideas and reports to improve their application – it will be looked at again at some point. The reports appear on the WBC planning portal along with the original application.
